El Segundo, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Los Angeles Kings signed free agent defenseman Brad Norton to a one-year contract on Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. The 27-year old Norton, who was a training camp tryout with the Kings, registered an assist in six preseason games. He handed out two assists in 22 games with the Florida Panthers last season while adding 10 helpers in 40 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The Kings also announced that defenseman Aaron Miller is not on the roster due to an injury. Miller, who underwent successful sports hernia surgery on September 13, was acquired by the Kings from the Avalanche in the trade that sent Rob Blake to Colorado before the trade deadline in 2001. The 31-year-old has 22 goals and 63 assists in 398 career NHL games. Los Angeles defenseman Jason Holland, who recorded two assists in three preseason games with the Kings, has been assigned to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.
