Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - Promoters for Amir Khan said Tuesday an appeal of last month's controversial fight against Lamont Peterson has been withdrawn. Scheduled to be heard before the International Boxing Federation on Wednesday, the appeal was withdrawn because fight officials involved in the December 10 bout were only going to be partially represented, Golden Boy Promotions said in a news release. Khan lost a split decision -- and his WBA and IBF light welterweight titles -- to Peterson in Washington D.C. after referee Joe Cooper docked him two points for excessive pushing. The World Boxing Association has ordered a rematch of the fight, saying last week that it should take place within 180 days. Golden Boy Promotions said Kahn's camp is "pleased to have been vindicated" by the WBA's decision to mandate another fight and hoped Peterson would "honor earlier statements in which he asserted that he would be happy to agree to a rematch." Khan's promoters called for a 50/50 split of worldwide revenues. Peterson, who was born in Washington, D.C., is 30-1-1 with 15 knockouts while the British-born Khan is 26-2 with 18 KOs.
