Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - The
Atlanta Hawks hope to snap a three-game slide when they welcome the
Washington Wizards to Philips Arena on Tuesday night.
The Wizards have lost three of their last five and six of their last 10 games, but are coming off a 95-82 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Michael Jordan scored just two points over 40 minutes of work, but Jerry Stackhouse poured in 28 to pick up the slack. Jordan did snag eight rebounds and hand out nine assists.
"The thing that I want everybody to understand on this team is that you don't have to score to be an impact player. My sole purpose was to rebound, assist and move the ball around," Jordan said. "Once Jerry got started offensively I wasn't really looking."
Washington is 3-8 on the road and has an 8-8 mark within the Eastern Conference.
Atlanta is coming off a 102-88 loss to the Phoenix Suns that dropped its home record to 8-3. Jason Terry scored 20 for the Hawks, shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Shareef Abdur-Rahim chipped in with 15, but Glenn Robinson shot only 5-of-18 from the field and finished with 12 points.
Less than 8,000 fans attended the game.
"We talk about we need more fans, but I mean, who wants to see that, what we did?" Atlanta guard Ira Newble told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "We don't have any desire to play hard as a team. We don't have any heart, the will to play defense as a team. We're losing simply because we're not playing aggressively. It's easy man, we just got to play hard. Nobody wants to see that."
The Hawks are 6-7 within the Eastern Conference.
This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams, who will meet again at MCI Center on December 28.
