East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley was trying to learn a new offense on the fly after being signed by the New York Giants on Thursday.

Stokley, 35, is back in the NFL again after playing 11 games for the Seattle Seahawks last season, his 12th in the league.

"I'm just trying to learn as much as I can and get as much work in as I can in practice," Stokley said.

"It's not easy but that's the way it goes. It is not an easy job to begin with but I have been doing it a long time and I am thankful for the opportunity to be here playing football."

Once a reliable target for Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Stokley will now catch passes from Eli Manning in New York.

The wide receiver wasn't sure if the Manning brothers had spoken about him, but said: "It wouldn't hurt." Stokley's best NFL season came in 2004, when he caught 68 passes for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Colts.

He signed with the Seahawks last season after reaching a settlement with the Denver Broncos that made him a free agent. He's also played for the Baltimore Ravens and has 338 career receptions for 4,673 yards and 34 touchdowns.

New York fans probably remember Stokley for scoring the first touchdown on a 38-yard catch in Baltimore's 34-7 win over the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.

The receiver said he also remembers the game well.

"I remember it being my second year in the league and just being in awe," he said. "A kid from Louisiana playing in the Super Bowl and feeling really blessed to be there and to win it was awesome. Never in my dreams would I have imagined winning and catching a touchdown. It is definitely top of my list."

To make room for Stokley on the roster, the Giants waived defensive end Justin Trattou.
