Lake Buena Vista, FL (My Sportsbook) - Penn State's Larry Johnson has been named the winner of Maxwell Award as the nation's top college football player. Johnson also won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back and the Walter Camp Award as player of the year earlier on Thursday. He is also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which will be presented Saturday. The senior finished the year with 2,015 rushing yards and averaged 8.0 yards per carry. He also scored 20 rushing touchdowns and became the ninth player in NCAA Division I-A history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. Johnson averaged 167.9 yards per game on the ground to lead the nation and had eight 100-yard rushing games this season, including four with more than 200 yards. He also set a team-record with 327 rushing yards against Indiana on November 16. The other finalists for the award were quarterbacks Brad Banks of Iowa and Ken Dorsey of Miami-Florida. Dorsey won the Maxwell Award last year.
