La Plata, Argentina (My Sportsbook) - Brazil's 2011 Copa America campaign got off to a slow start on Sunday as the team was held to a 0-0 draw by Venezuela in the opening match in Group B. Brazil controlled the majority of the possession but failed to capitalize on a number of chances, including one in the first half from Pato that struck the post. Robinho also had a great opportunity in the first half when he beat goalkeeper Renny Vicente Vega with a shot, only for Venezuela defender Oswaldo Vizcarrondo to slide in and block the ball with his shoulder just before the goal line. Neymar, who is a target for a number of big clubs in Europe, also struggled to hit top gear for Brazil as he too lacked the ability to finish in the final third. The other match in the group on Sunday also finished 0-0 between Paraguay and Ecuador, leaving all four sides level after one match. Group B play continues on July 9 with Brazil facing Paraguay and Ecuador meeting Venezuela.
