Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Real Madrid has appealed the five-game touchline ban imposed by UEFA on manager Jose Mourinho, the club said on Friday. Mourinho's suspension comes from the club's Champions League semifinal first leg against Barcelona when he was sent to the stands and continued his tirade at the post-match press conference over a red card shown to Madrid's Pepe. The Portuguese boss also claimed there was a refereeing conspiracy in favor of Barcelona. A statement on the UEFA website read: "Real Madrid have appealed against the disciplinary verdict handed down to Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on May 6, and relating to the UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona in Madrid on April 27. "The appeal follows the sending by UEFA of the reasoned decision on June 6. The date of the hearing will be communicated in due course." |
