Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Mystics named Linda Hargrove general manager on Friday. Hargrove, who was the Mystics assistant coach last season, begins her new duties immediately.

Hargrove was the head coach/general manager of the WNBA's Portland Fire for three seasons (2000-2002). Before the team folded in 2002, she led the Fire to a 16-16 record in their last season. In 1997, Hargrove served a brief stint with the Long Beach Stingrays of the American Basketball League.

She has also coached at the international level as an assistant for both the 1990 U.S. Senior National Team and the 1992 Bronze medal winning U.S. Olympic team.

Prior to her professional experience, Hargrove spent 26 years at the collegiate level as the head coach at Cowley County Community College in Kansas and Wichita State.

"I look forward to this wonderful opportunity with the Mystics organization," said Hargrove. "We want to build on last season's success and continue to grow and develop our players in an effort to build a perennial playoff contender."

The club also announced that senior vice president Judy Holland-Burton has elected to step down from the position and return full-time to her duties with parent company Washington Sports and Entertainment.
