Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - A group of influential NFL owners, including Dallas' Jerry Jones and New England's Robert Kraft reportedly met secretly in a western suburb of Chicago this week with union head DeMaurice Smith. The Chicago Tribune reported that the private jets of both owners were spotted at DuPage airport. The paper also cited sources as saying NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson were part of the meeting. ESPN then reported that Smith and other union officials were also in attendance. The apparent meeting came only a few days before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis will hear arguments on the owners' appeal of a lower court ruling to lift the NFL lockout.
