Milano, Italy (My Sportsbook) - AC Milan gave defender Alessandro Costacurta a contract extension Tuesday, keeping the veteran with the club until 2006. The 39-year-old, who will turn 40 under his new deal, signed a one-year extension. The former Italian international made his Serie A debut back in 1987 and entered this season with 426 league appearances. Also coming into the current campaign, Costacurta has the experience of 110 international competitions and 67 appearances in Coppa Italia. In his illustrious career, he has won seven Serie A titles, four European Champion Clubs' Cups and a pair of European/South America Cups. This season, the middle back has played seven times in league play, as well as two performances in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Born in 1966, Costacurta is the oldest player on the team and the second longest tenured behind captain Paolo Maldini. AC Milan sits in second place of the Serie A standings this season, two points behind first-place Juventus.
