Milan, Italy (My Sportsbook) - A top of the table clash between AC Milan and Udinese at the San Siro on Sunday highlights round 19 of the Serie A season.
Udinese, currently in third place, is just five points behind second-place Milan. Since a three-match losing streak in late September/early October, Udinese has lost just once. That loss came on January 6 at Sampdoria, but the club responded last Sunday with a 2-0 win over Cagliari.
Luciano Spalletti's club has enjoyed tremendous success recently at AC Milan, as Udinese has won two of the last three meetings with the Rossoneri at the San Siro. However, Udinese will be without David Di Michele and Sulley Ali Muntari due to suspension.
"It means really nothing," said AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf of the last two Udinese wins. "The game on Sunday is important because it is a direct challenge. Udinese are in form and we will prepare this game in order to face them with the right mentality. We must play a great game on Sunday afternoon and take all the points."
AC Milan, which is four points behind leaders Juventus, is expected to be boosted by the return of star defender Jaap Stam. The Dutch international has been out since November with an ankle injury, but made his return on Wednesday against Palermo in the Italian Cup.
Juventus faces a tough test as well, away at eighth-place Cagliari. Juve was shockingly dumped out of the Italian Cup by lowly Atalanta on Thursday, 5-3 on aggregate.
Juventus' star striker David Trezeguet has recovered from his shoulder injury after three months on the sidelines. The French international scored against Atalanta on Thursday and could pair with Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Alessandro Del Piero at the top of Fabio Capello's attack.
"I must underline Trezeguet's performance, he seems to have completely recovered," said Capello after the Atalanta match. "He ran well, played hard and scored. I'm very satisfied with the way he played."
Cagliari has been especially strong at the SantElia Stadium, earning 20 of its 25 total points at home.
Fourth-place Inter Milan will travel to Reggina on Sunday looking for its fourth straight win. Inter remains the only unbeaten team in the league, but 12 draws leave it 13 points behind Juve. Obafemi Martins netted a hat trick in a mid-week Italian Cup win over Bologna, and Inter will take on Atalanta in the next round. Coach Roberto Mancini has hinted he could use three strikers Saturday.
"It's a solution I have been thinking about using from the start," said Mancini. "All the boys know full well that they have to do a certain kind of job on the pitch if we play with three strikers."
Juan Sebastian Veron is out for Inter due to a right knee knock he picked up in practice, and Dejan Stankovic is suspended.
