Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino is set to become the head coach of the Puerto Rico national team. According to FIBA Americas, Pitino met with members of the Puerto Rico federation as well as potential players, including NBA stars Jose Juan Barea and Carlos Arroyo, on Sunday in Miami. Pitino will guide the Puerto Rico team during the summer of 2011 in an effort to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. The FIBA Americas Championship, which also serves as the Olympic qualifier, is set to begin next August in Argentina. Puerto Rico failed to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Games after a sixth-place finish at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
