Lausanne, Switzerland (My Sportsbook) - Russian cross-country skier Julia Chepalova, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, had her appeal of a two-year ban for doping dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The International Skiing Federation imposed the ban on December 22 because Chepalova tested positive for the blood-boosting hormone EPO. That test was taken in January 2009 after a World Cup event in Val di Fiemme, Italy. On January 12 this year, Chepalova filed an appeal with the CAS to request the annulment of her suspension. The suspension, due to expire August 20, 2011, caused her absence at the 2010 Olympics.
