Ostrava, Czech Republic (My Sportsbook) - USA Basketball announced Tuesday the team that will compete at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for women. Leading the team are two-time Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings and Diana Taurasi, who helped the United States win in 2004 and '08. Additionally, 2008 Olympic gold medalist Sylvia Fowles and 2004 gold medalist Swin Cash were named to the team. International newcomers Jayne Appel, Tina Charles, Candice Dupree, Asjha Jones, Angel McCoughtry, Maya Moore, and Lindsay Whalen round out the roster. The 2010 FIBA World Championship for women will be held from September 23 to October 3 in Ostrava and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. The United States, coached by Connecticut's Geno Auriemma, opens play against Greece on September 23. Its preliminary schedule also includes games against Senegal on September 24 and France the following day. The United States won bronze at the 2006 women's World Championship after taking gold in 2002.
