New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Seattle's Lauren Jackson was voted the 2010 WNBA Most Valuable Player and the Storm's Brian Agler was named Coach of the Year on Thursday.

The announcements came just before the Storm were scheduled to tip-off against the defending WNBA champion Mercury in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in Seattle.

This is Jackson's third league MVP, joining Sheryl Swoopes and Lisa Leslie as the only others to accomplish the feat in WNBA history. She previously won in 2003 and 2007.

Jackson received 323 points and 22 first place votes from a national panel of 39 sportswriters and broadcasters. Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings ranked second with 262 points and 10 first place votes, New York Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter was third with 207 points and five first place tallies, while Phoenix's Diana Taurasi, the 2009 MVP, finished fourth with 73 points.

A native Australian, Jackson averaged 20.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and as many assists over 32 games in leading the Storm to the league's top mark of 28-6, equaling a league record for wins in the regular season. Seattle also posted the first 17-0 home record in WNBA history.

The 10th-year power forward has spent her entire career in Seattle and has the Storm in the West finals for the first time since 2004, when they won the title.

Agler received 17 votes from a national panel of 39 sportswriters and broadcasters. New York's Anne Donovan and former Storm head coach finished second with 13 votes. Washington's Julie Plank placed third with nine votes.

After Seattle's stellar regular season, it swept the Los Angeles Sparks in the conference semifinals. This is Agler's first trip past the semis in his third season at the helm, during which time he's produced three seasons of at least 20 wins.
