Dublin, Ireland (My Sportsbook) - The Football Association of Ireland announced Wednesday that Chief Executive Officer Fran Rooney will resign, effective November 5. Rooney will vacate a post he held for just 18 months. The FAI refused to comment on a severance package. "I will always be committed to football in Ireland," Rooney said. "I thank all those who worked with me in the past 18 months. I am also grateful to the people who expressed their support for me." Rooney and FAI president Milo Corcoran have had a rocky working relationship during their time together. Just last week, Corcoran publicly stated he could no longer work with Rooney, whose hard-handed management style apparently angered several members of the FAI board. Corcoran, however, did thank Rooney for his contributions and wished him well in the future.
