Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Phoenix Mercury acquired forward/center Kara Braxton from the Tulsa Shock in exchange for forward/center Nicole Ohlde and a first-round pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft. Braxton is averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 22 games this season. She scored 18 points in a 123-91 loss to Phoenix on Thursday night. "Braxton is a force that will help us this year and into the future," said Mercury head coach Corey Gaines." She has played on WNBA championship teams. She is one of the few bigs in this league who demands a double team, which is what every coach in the world would love to have in a post." The 27-year-old Braxton is in her sixth WNBA season and played on two title teams when the Shock franchise was located in Detroit. She owns career averages of 7.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. Ohlde was in her second season with Phoenix after playing five years with Minnesota. She is averaging 3.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in 20 games off the bench this year.
