New Jersey Nets return home from their road trip to host the
Atlanta Hawks at Continental Airlines Arena on Tuesday.
The Nets finished with a disappointing 2-3 mark on their five-game swing, most recently falling to the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday, 96-95. Brent Barry drained a three-pointer from the corner with 3.6 seconds remaining to lift Seattle to the win.
Jason Kidd collected 27 points, eight boards and eight assists for New Jersey, but on the Nets' final possession, Kidd was blocked by Desmond Mason on a drive to the basket.
Lucious Harris, starting in place of the injured Kerry Kittles, netted a season-high 23 points for the Nets.
Kittles is sidelined with a bruised left knee, while center Dikembe Mutombo missed his second straight game for New Jersey because of a sore right wrist. Both Kittles and Mutombo are expected to miss Tuesday's contest.
The Nets, who open a five-game homestand Tuesday, are 7-1 at home this season and 5-3 against the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks are coming off a 117-92 road loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
Dion Glover paced Atlanta with 18 points off the bench and Chris Crawford scored 14 as a reserve for the Hawks, who have lost two of three overall.
Glenn Robinson scored 13 on just 6-of-20 shooting and Shareef Abdur-Rahim also had 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Atlanta. The Hawks were 38-of-95 (40 percent) from the floor and made just four of 20 three-point attempts in the loss.
Atlanta has lost three straight on the road and is just 2-7 as the visitor this season. The Hawks are 4-5 against the Eastern Conference.
These teams met in the season opener back on October 30, with the Nets rolling to a 105-94 win in New Jersey.
The Nets have won four of the last six meetings with Atlanta overall. The Hawks have dropped three straight and nine of their last 11 at New Jersey.
