Pittsford, NY (My Sportsbook) - Cristie Kerr posted a three-under 69 on Saturday to take an eye-opening eight-shot lead after the third round of the LPGA Championship, the second major of the season on the LPGA Tour. Kerr finished 54 holes at 13-under 203 at Locust Hill Country Club to extend her overnight cushion by three strokes. Azahara Munoz (70), Jimin Kang (70) and Mika Miyazato (72) are in second place at minus-five. Miyazato was closest to Kerr until a double-bogey at the last left her in a pack barely within striking distance of the world's No. 5 player. Kerr has her 12th third-round lead on the LPGA Tour and she converted five of her previous 11 into trips to the winner's circle. One of those wins was at the 2007 U.S. Open, her only major title to date. Three years ago at Pine Needles, Kerr was one ahead with a round to play and took the championship by two strokes. If the field wants a silver lining, Kerr has lost the last three times she held the third-round lead, but none of those margins rivaled this eight-shot mountain. MORE TO FOLLOW.
