Colorado Springs, CO (My Sportsbook) - Tuffy Latour is leaving Team Canada and will return to the U.S. to coach the skeleton program leading to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Latour worked in several capacities with the U.S. team from 1998-2006, and helped secure the first-ever women's bobsled Olympic gold medal and the silver and bronze four-man Olympic medals at the 2002 Winter Games. She first worked as the women's bobsled driving coach and finally the men's bobsled head coach. She was then hired as the Canadian bobsled head coach in June 2007 and helped lead the host nation to the women's bobsled gold and silver medals at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. "I look forward to the opportunity to work with the world class U.S. skeleton team," said Latour. "My sliding and coaching careers have touched on both sports, and I am very excited to be back in the U.S. program." Dave Owens was named head coach of the U.S. women's bobsled team and will lead the contingent into the 2014 Winter Olympics. He takes over for Sepp Plozza, who left to take over the job for the Swiss team. Owens played college football at Tulsa before going to bobsled. He finished as high as fourth in the four-man bobsled at the 2000 World Championships. Owens retired from competition after having surgery for testicular cancer.
