Auburn Hills, MI (My Sportsbook) - The
Dallas Mavericks hope to remain undefeated on the season when they face a tough task in the
Detroit Pistons Wednesday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Mavs are just the fourth team in NBA history to start a season with 13 straight wins. The league record for the longest season-opening streak was set in 1948-49 by the Washington Capitols, who started 15-0 that year, and matched in 1993-94 by the Houston Rockets. Boston started the 1957-58 season 14-0.
Dallas is coming off an impressive 115-105 win over the Seattle SuperSonics on Saturday.
Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley each scored 29 points and Steve Nash added 27, as the Mavericks overcame a fourth-quarter deficit and outlasted Seattle at AmericanAirlines Center.
Nowitzki scored 13 of his 29 in the fourth quarter and also pulled down 11 rebounds for the Mavs, who have also won seven in a row at home. Walt Williams scored 18 off the bench for Dallas and Nash added eight assists.
Dallas is 6-0 against the Eastern Conference this season.
Meanwhile, the Pistons have also been hot, winning their last three games and six of their last seven. Detroit is also perfect at home this season (6-0).
Detroit snapped the league's second-longest streak in its last outing, topping Indiana, 106-91, on Saturday to bring the Pacers' nine-game winning streak to an end.
Richard Hamilton scored 22 points and was one of six Pistons to score in double figures as Detroit rallied from an early deficit to knock off Indiana. Corliss Williamson and Jon Barry each added 19 points for Detroit.
The Pistons won this game despite All-Star Ben Wallace being held off the scoreboard. He grabbed 11 rebounds, but went 0-for-2 from the field.
Detroit is 6-2 against the Western Conference this season.
This is the final meeting of the season between the Mavs and Pistons. These teams met back on November 9, with the Mavs cruising to a 114-75 win at Dallas.
The Mavs have won five of the last seven matchups overall and two of the last three in Auburn Hills. However, Dallas is just 6-16 all-time at Detroit.
