Salmons, Bucks drop Jazz to continue hot streak

Milwaukee, WI (My Sportsbook) - John Salmons scored 24 points and hit a pair of important free throws with less than 20 seconds to go, and the Milwaukee Bucks continued their impressive homestand with a 95-87 win over the Utah Jazz.

Salmons continued to provide a spark for Milwaukee, which is 11-1 with him in the lineup since his acquisition at the trade deadline. The Bucks improved to 3-0 on their four-game homestand, having beaten contenders Cleveland, Boston and Utah in succession on the stretch. The team has won five straight overall.

Brandon Jennings added 23 points, and Andrew Bogut contributed with 16 points and 12 boards. Eryan Ilyasova provided 14 points in the impressive victory, as the Bucks exceeded last season's win total with their 35th win and moved a season-high six games over .500.

"Utah's not an easy team to beat. You have to bring your "A" game," Jennings said. "They got the lead, and it was kind of back-and-forth, and we got some good stops at the end of the game. We played three teams that are great playoff teams; to come in here and beat them, that's pretty big."

Carlos Boozer paced the Jazz with 26 points and 14 boards before being ejected in the final seconds, and Utah had a four-game win streak snapped. Mehmet Okur contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds, and C.J. Miles had 17 points in a reserve role.

Deron Williams scored 11 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed six boards for Utah.

"They made us hurry on a couple things, they forced us out on the floor," Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan said of the Bucks. "They did a great job, they played extremely well and they made the shots they had to to win the ballgame."

The Jazz trailed by five with 1:39 to play, but Utah rallied to tie the game after a Boozer free throw, Kyle Korver jumper and two Miles makes from the line for an 87-87 game with 36 ticks left.

The Bucks moved back in front after Ilyasova followed a Bogut miss with a putback, and Okur missed a three-point attempt at the other end with 20 seconds remaining. Salmons grabbed the rebound, was fouled and hit both attempts from the free throw line to extend the margin to four, and Boozer's offensive foul and subsequent ejection at the other end all but sealed the outcome.

Milwaukee jumped out to a 25-22 lead after one quarter, and an 8-2 burst near the end of the half helped the Bucks grab a 48-40 halftime lead.

The hosts led by as many as 12 in the third quarter, although the eight-point margin still stood at the end of the period, 71-63.

Utah opened the fourth with a 9-0 run. Miles had all but two of the points, and his slam with 10 minutes left put the Jazz ahead, 72-71. Milwaukee later answered with a 9-2 spurt, capped by a Jennings wide-open three, for an 84-80 advantage with three minutes to go, and the game came down to the wire.

Game Notes

Boozer received a double-technical with 13.4 seconds left after shouting at the officials...The Bucks have won six straight at home...Utah had won nine of the previous 10 games against Milwaukee...The Jazz fell to 17-15 on the road, while the Bucks improved to 22-9 at home...Milwaukee finishes its homestand against Indiana on Sunday...Utah fell two games behind Denver in the division after the Nuggets beat the Hornets.
