Durant sets franchise mark, Thunder slide by Nets

Oklahoma City, OK (My Sportsbook) - Kevin Durant poured in 32 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, as the Oklahoma City Thunder held off the lowly New Jersey Nets, 104-102.

Durant's 30-point game was his 36th this season, breaking Spencer Haywood's franchise mark set from the 1972-73 season.

Jeff Green had a season-high 27 points to go with six rebounds for the Thunder, who have won four in a row. Russell Westbrook tallied 11 points and 10 assists. Nenad Krstic and Nick Collison each registered 10 points for Oklahoma City, which has won five straight on its home floor.

"He's unstoppable," Durant said of Green. "He's so strong going to the basket, he can shoot the three. He has one of the best pump-fakes in the game, so that allows him to get to the rim as well. He's so athletic too, so he did a great job of getting us going early today."

Devin Harris finished with 19 points and eight assists for the Nets, who dropped to 1-3 on their five-game road trip that ends Saturday in Houston. New Jersey fell to 7-58 on the season and is trying desperately to avoid finishing with the worst record in NBA history, set by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers (9-73).

"I like our effort," Harris said. "Just coming down, giving ourselves a chance to win the game in the end. The way we've been starting out...has been a little disheartening, but other than that, I like the way our bench has been coming in and really gotten us back into the game. Second halves have really been key for us."

Jarvis Hayes and Keyon Dooling chipped in 16 and 15 points, respectively, off the bench. Brook Lopez and Terrence Williams added 14 points apiece in defeat.

Down 93-78 with less than seven minutes to play in the fourth, New Jersey scored six consecutive points to cut the deficit to 93-84 with 5:41 to go.

Oklahoma City seemed to be in control with a 104-98 lead with 6.3 seconds left. But Williams then made two free throws with 3.2 ticks remaining to cut the gap to 104-100.

Thabo Sefolosha turned the ball over at the other end, leading to Courtney Lee's layup at the buzzer to account for the final margin.

Trailing 14-13 midway through the first quarter, the Thunder went on an 18-2 run to build a 15-point lead. Serge Ibaka made back-to-back layups to make it a 31-16 game with 1:16 to go. The score was 31-20 after 12 minutes.

Oklahoma City held a 59-49 margin following a tight second period.

A Green trey had the Thunder ahead 16, 80-64, with two minutes remaining in the third. But the Nets closed the stanza out on a 7-2 flurry to get within 82-71 heading to the fourth.

Game Notes

The Thunder shot 51.9 percent from the floor, while the Nets made 46 percent of their shots...Oklahoma City outrebounded New Jersey, 47-36...The Thunder won the season series with the Nets, 2-0.
