Patrice Bergeron added a goal and two assists for the Bruins, who snapped a two-game slide. Marco Sturm, Blake Wheeler and David Krejci each posted a goal and one helper. Jeff Carter recorded the lone goal for the Flyers, whose two-game win streak came to an end. Starter Michael Leighton was tagged for four goals on 25 shots in 31-plus minutes. Brian Boucher finished the game with 11 stops.

Final Score: Montreal 5, Edmonton 4 (SO)

Montreal, QC (My Sportsbook) - Andrei Kostitsyn scored in the fifth round of the shootout, lifting the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Kostitsyn's was the only score of the shootout, and came when he beat Devan Dubnyk with a forehand shot low to the left side. Sam Gagner was then wild on a backhand attempt to seal the victory for Montreal, which has won four in a row to equal its longest streak of the season. Sergei Kostitsyn and Travis Moen each had a goal and assist for the Canadiens, while Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta also scored. Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves in the win. Gagner, Shawn Horcoff, Robert Nilsson and Andrew Cogliano had the goals for the Oilers, who have lost two in a row. Dubnyk made 22 saves.

Final Score: Carolina 4, Pittsburgh 3 (OT)

Raleigh, NC (My Sportsbook) - Brian Pothier scored on a one-timer 23 seconds into overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at RBC Center. In the extra session, Pothier drifted down from his point position to the middle of the right circle and hammered a Ray Whitney pass to the back of the net. Whitney, Pothier and Eric Staal each had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who have won their last eight games at home. Carolina rookie goaltender Justin Peters made 37 saves in his fifth career start. The 'Canes remained eight points behind Boston for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Jordan Staal, Bill Guerin and Matt Cooke provided the offense for Pittsburgh, which had a four- game winning streak snapped but picked up at least a point in its ninth straight game (5-0-4). The Penguins did increase their lead to four points over New Jersey for first place in the Atlantic Division. Pittsburgh visits the Devils on Friday. Brent Johnson allowed four goals on 21 shots to take the loss.

Final Score: St. Louis 2, NY Islanders 1 (SO)

Uniondale, NY (My Sportsbook) - T.J. Oshie and Brad Boyes scored in the shootout, lifting the St. Louis Blues to a 2-1 win over the struggling New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. Chris Mason stopped New York's Frans Nielsen to open the shootout before Oshie scored on a wrister. Mason then made a save on Matt Moulson before Boyes beat Martin Biron with a wrist shot to secure the victory. Patrik Berglund scored in regulation for the Blues, who rebounded from a loss Saturday at Colorado to win for the sixth time in their last seven games. Mason stopped 29-of-30 shots. Biron made 35 saves, including five in overtime, for the Islanders, who have dropped their last four. Moulson had New York's lone goal.

Final Score: Toronto 4, Tampa Bay 3 (OT)

Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Phil Kessel scored 3:33 into overtime to give Toronto a 4-3 triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Viktor Stalberg had a pair of goals, while Tyler Bozak also found the net for the Maple Leafs, who gained their second straight 4-3 overtime victory, also winning at home against Boston on Tuesday. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 30 saves for Toronto. Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist, stretching his amazing points streak to a franchise-record 18 games and his goal string to seven contests, but the Lightning lost for the seventh time in eight tries. Kurtis Foster and Steve Downie also lit the lamp for Tampa Bay, which at 66 points is six behind Boston and Montreal, who are tied for seventh in the Eastern Conference. Mike Smith stopped 34 shots in defeat.

Final Score: Columbus 2, Atlanta 1

Columbus, OH (My Sportsbook) - Mathieu Garon made 28 stops to help the Columbus Blue Jackets take a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers at Nationwide Arena. As a consequence of Atlanta's loss, the Washington Capitals became the first team in the NHL to clinch a playoff spot and a division as they have now won the Southeast Division for the third consecutive season. Kristian Huselius had a goal and an assist while R.J. Umberger scored the other goal for the Blue Jackets, who have won their past two games. Johnny Oduya scored the lone goal while Johan Hedberg stopped 19 shots for the Thrashers, who have dropped their past four games.

Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - Johan Franzen tallied a pair of goals as Detroit flattened Minnesota, 5-1, at Joe Louis Arena. Henrik Zetterberg added a goal and two assists and Tomas Holmstrom picked up a goal and a helper for the Red Wings, who have won five of their last seven games. Jimmy Howard finished with 21 saves. Andrew Ebbett notched the lone score for the Wild, who slid to their fourth straight loss and sixth in eight contests. Josh Harding was tagged for all five goals on 30 shots in defeat.

Final Score: Colorado 3, Florida 0

Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Paul Stastny scored twice in the second period to support a 27-save performance by Craig Anderson, as the Colorado Avalanche blanked the Florida Panthers, 3-0, at Pepsi Center. Anderson recorded his seventh shutout of the season, tying him with New Jersey's Martin Brodeur, Phoenix's Ilya Bryzgalov and his counterpart on Thursday night, Florida's Tomas Vokoun, for the league lead. Matt Hendricks had the other goal, and Chris Stewart collected two assists for the Avalanche, who rebounded from Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Vancouver in which they squandered a pair of three-goal leads. Colorado moved to within three points of the idle Canucks for first place in the Northwest Division. Vokoun stopped 28 shots for the Panthers, who were denied a fourth straight win.

Final Score: Calgary 2, Ottawa 0

Calgary, AB (My Sportsbook) - Miikka Kiprusoff stopped all 33 shots he faced for his 34th career shutout, as the Calgary Flames topped the Ottawa Senators, 2-0, at the Saddledome. Jamal Mayers and Chris Higgins scored for the Flames, who won their fourth consecutive game and continued their fight to gain a playoff berth. The Flames have been hovering around the final spot in the West and currently sit one point above Detroit for the eighth position. Brian Elliott allowed two goals on 25 shots for the Senators, who fell to 1-3-1 since the resumption of play following the Olympics and remained two points behind the Buffalo Sabres in the race for the Northeast Division crown.
