Acapulco, Mexico (My Sportsbook) - Third-seeded David Ferrer and fourth- seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero each won their respective semifinal matches Friday to set up an all-Spanish final at the $1.08 million Mexican Open. Ferrero took the first set 7-5 from seventh-seeded Juan Monaco when the Argentine retired due to an abdominal strain. The former world No. 1 Ferrero has won his last two events, including a title in Buenos Aires last week. He also titled in Brazil two weeks ago. Ferrero now has a 14-match winning streak. Ferrero holds a 14-17 career mark in title matches. In the second semifinal, Ferrer outlasted second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 6-4 on the red clay at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess. Ferrer is 7-8 lifetime in title bouts. Ironically, Ferrero and Ferrer met in last week's final in Buenos Aires. Despite Ferrero winning that matchup, Ferrer still holds a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series versus his fellow countryman. This event is one of the 11 ATP World Tour 500 tournaments and concludes a four-event "Golden Swing" through Latin America. This week's winner will claim $227,000.
