Vancouver, BC (My Sportsbook) - Austrian Marion Kreiner, who finished with the best overall time after two qualifying runs in the women's parallel giant slalom, advanced to the quarterfinals. Kreiner won her two heats against Annamari Chundak of Ukraine by 1.50 and 2.29 seconds, respectively. She will square off against German Anke Karstens, who topped Canada's Alexa Loo by .60 and .01 seconds. German Amelie Kober bested Russia's Ekaterina Tudegesheva by 1.5 seconds and a disqualification. Her semifinal opponent will be Ekaterina Ilyukhina, who downed American Michelle Gorgone by 0.39 and 0.21 seconds. Nicolien Sauerbreij, who was second to Kreiner in the qualifiers, will also advance thanks to besting Isabella Laboeck of Germany in both heats. She will take on Austrian Claudia Riegler, who topped Japan's Tomoka Takeuchi by a wide margin, including a near 13-second edge in their second heat. Finally German Selina Joerg and Austrian Ina Meschik are headed for a quarterfinal meeting. Joerg downed Doris Guenther of Austria while Meschik had an easy time with Camille De Faucompret from France. The heats featured eight head-to-head matchups and the winners will meet in the semifinals, followed by the medal runs.
