Orchard Park, NY (My Sportsbook) - The Buffalo Bills on Thursday named George Edwards, who was hired last month by the University of Florida, defensive coordinator. Edwards was named the Gators' defensive coordinator on January 8, but was offered and accepted the same position on Chan Gailey's Bills staff. He had spent the last five seasons with the Dolphins as linebackers coach before taking the job at Florida. Edwards has spent the majority of his coaching career in the NFL, as he was linebackers coach for Dallas from 1998-2001. After one year as linebackers coach with the Washington Redskins, he was named defensive coordinator in 2003, then spent the 2004 campaign with the Cleveland Browns before moving on to Miami. Edwards began his coaching career at Florida in 1991 as a graduate assistant, then moved on to Appalachian State in 1992 and spent four years at the I-AA level before heading to Duke in 1996. He was the defensive line coach at Georgia in 1997 before joining the NFL ranks.
