Foxborough, MA (My Sportsbook) - The New England Patriots made several notable moves on Tuesday, including releasing veteran quarterback Jim Miller. The team also placed veteran defensive lineman Dana Stubblefield on the IR, while cutting first year offensive tackle Tim Provost as well. Miller was signed by the Patriots back on July 19 after spending the 2003 campaign out of football. He was entering his 10th NFL season and served as the starting signal caller for Chicago in 2001 and 2002. Miller had his best season in 2001, starting 13 of 16 games, passing for 2,299 yards with 13 touchdowns for the Bears. He has also spent time with Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Atlanta and the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. Stubblefield, 33, has started 149 of the 154 games over an 11-year career. He was inked by New England back in August and has also had stints with San Francisco, Washington and the Oakland Raiders. In his career, Stubblefield has amassed 428 career tackles, including 53 1/2 sacks. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Stubblefield was named the AP NFL defensive player of the year following a 15-sack performance during the 1997 campaign. Provost spent the entire 2003 season on the practice squad. He was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
