Love paces Timberwolves over Knicks

Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - Kevin Love had a career-high 25 points to go with 11 rebounds, and the Minnesota Timberwolves crushed the New York Knicks, 112-91, at Target Center.

Al Jefferson added 22 points and 11 boards for the T'Wolves, who have won two in a row following a five-game losing streak. Ryan Hollins contributed with 16 points, and Damien Wilkins had 11 in the win.

Ryan Gomes provided 10 points for Minnesota, which made half its field goal attempts (42-of-84).

Wilson Chandler tallied a game-high 27 points for the Knicks, losers in five of six and seven of nine. David Lee chipped in with 16 points and 11 boards, and Danilo Gallinari had 15 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.

Jared Jeffries provided 14 points, and Chris Duhon had 11 for New York.

The Knicks looked as though they would run away with the game early, as Lee's driving layup midway through the first quarter gave New York a 22-7 lead.

The visitors, though, couldn't keep up their shooting prowess, allowing for Minnesota to quickly recover.

"We had to fight back, and we didn't come ready to play from the beginning," Gomes said. "We missed some shots early on, and they leaked out and got some transition points. "

The T'Wolves trailed by 14 moments later and ended the quarter on a 13-2 burst; Hollins' basket with a minute left made it 26-23 heading to the second.

Jefferson and Love each scored to begin the second quarter for a 27-26 Minnesota lead, and an 8-0 T'Wolves run gave the hosts a 38-33 lead halfway through. The Timberwolves held a 49-46 halftime advantage.

New York began the third on a 10-3 burst to capture a 56-52 edge on a Duhon three, but Minnesota used a 19-5 run later to take the lead for good. Love had five points and finished the stretch with a basket for a 80-68 edge, and it was 82-72 heading to the fourth.

"(In the third quarter) we allowed them to kind of dictate the offense," Jeffries said. "They got deep post-ups and easy layups, and we fouled them too much. We put them on the line way too much."

Minnesota put the game away with an 18-5 rally to begin the final quarter. The team made three long distance shots during the stretch, and Love finished it with one of his two three-pointers for an insurmountable 100-77 advantage with 6 1/2 minutes left.

Game Notes

The T'Wolves improved to 8-17 at home, while the Knicks fell to 7-15 on the road...The teams split the season series, 1-1...New York shot just 39.8 percent from the field.
