Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - The
Dallas Mavericks try for their 13th straight win when they welcome the Seattle SuperSonics to AmericanAirlines Center.
Seattle has dropped two straight on the heels of a four-game winning streak. The Sonics are coming off an 89-85 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Gary Payton had 22 points and 14 assists for the Sonics, who fell a half-game behind Sacramento for first place in the Pacific Division.
"We just got outworked," said Sonics coach Nate McMillan, whose team fell to 6-1 against Western Conference foes. "They brought in fresh guys and were able to wear us down."
The Sonics are 5-2 on the road this season.
Dallas is coming off a 103-90 victory over the Houston Rockets. Michael Finley had a season-high 28 points, including six treys, and Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points and nine rebounds as the Mavs set a franchise record for consecutive wins at any point in a season, and tied for the fourth-best start in league history.
"We feel confident, but it's going to end sooner or later," said Steve Nash. "We're really not concerned about the streak. We just want to get better."
The Mavericks are definitely getting better on the defensive end. Last season, the Mavs allowed an average of 101.3 points per game. Entering the win over the Rockets, Dallas was allowing opponents an average of 87.5 points this season. The Mavs are averaging 103 points per game on offense.
Dallas is 6-0 at home and has a 6-0 mark against Western Conference foes.
