Athens, Greece (My Sportsbook) - Emilie Lepennec of France won the gold medal in the women's uneven bars event Sunday at the Summer Games.
Terin Humphrey and Courtney Kupets gave the United States the silver and bronze, respectively. Humphrey scored a 9.662, just .025 points behind Lepennec. Kupets posted a score of 9.637.
There was one other women's event, as Monica Rosu of Romania won the gold medal in the vault with a score of 9.656. American Annia Hatch won a silver medal with a score of 9.481, while Russian Anna Pavlova captured the bronze with a 9.475 total.
"It is unbelievable and very exciting," said Hatch, who also won a silver in the women's team competition. "I never dreamt that I would win two medals. Actually, I never thought I would win one in the first place. Winning these medals is a very special accomplishment for me, as I had a very hard year."
Three men's events were completed Sunday night, and Canadian Kyle Shewfelt won the gold medal in the floor exercise. Former world champion Marian Dragulescu of Romania won the silver medal, while Jordan Jovtchev of Bulgaria captured the bronze. Shewfelt and Dragulescu each had scores of 9.787, but Shewfelt won a tiebreaker. Jovtchev had a score of 9.775.
American twin brothers Paul and Morgan Hamm, finished fifth and eighth, respectively. Paul Hamm won the all-around gold medal earlier at these Games. That was the closest finish ever and has become a circle of controversy.
Winning gold on the pommel horse was Teng Haibin of China with Marius Daniel Urzica of Romania winning the silver and Takehiro Kahsima of Japan taking home bronze. Paul Hamm finished in sixth place.
The rings competition was won by Dimosthenis Tampakos of Greece with a score of 9.862. Jovtchev got his second medal of the night with a silver in rings with a score of 9.850, while Yuri Chechi of Italy was third with a total of 9.812.
