Daytona Beach, FL (My Sportsbook) - Nikki Garret, one of the second-round co- leaders, was even through three holes on Friday, but was alone atop the leaderboard during the suspended third round of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. Garrett is six-under par for the championship. Play was delayed due to lightning in the area, but officials were ready to send the golfers back on to the course at 12:30 p.m. (et). Another storm rolled through the area and around 1:45 p.m. the decision was made to suspend play for the day. LPGA International was deemed unplayable so the players will be back on the both the Legends and Champions courses at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. There are storms forecast for Saturday morning so play will start later in the day. Jane Chin, who shared the second-round lead with Garrett, was one-over through three and is second at minus-five. Katie Kempter is also one-over early on and shares third place with Leah Wigger and Marianne Skarpnord. Wigger and Skarpnord are both two-under par in the third round and the trio is knotted at four-under par. The 105 players in this week's field are battling for LPGA Tour status next season under new a Q-school system that rewards the top-40 finishers with some measure of eligibility for 2010. The top-20 players at the end of the tournament will alternate with players who finished in positions 81-100 on this year's money list for entry into tournaments. The Q-school winner will earn her spot in a field, followed by the player who finished 81st on the money list, followed by the second-place finisher at Q- school, followed by the 82nd player on the money, and so on. Players who finish in positions 21-40 this week will earn lesser consideration.
