Athens, Greece (My Sportsbook) - Brazil's Robert Scheidt and Norway's Siren Sundby each won sailing gold medals on Sunday. Scheidt finished first in the Open Laser event, while Sundby captured the women's Europe at the Summer Games. Andreas Geritzer of Austria won the silver medal in the Laser, with Vasilij Zbogar of Slovenia coming in third. Lenka Smidova of the Czech Republic was second in the Europe, while Signe Livgjerg of Denmark won the bronze. The 31-year-old Scheidt won the Laser for a second time at the Summer Games, also winning gold in 1996. He also won a silver in 2000. "I probably won't continue in the Laser class," Scheidt said about his future. "I will be too old in four years. I have the next two or three months to think about it and I will decide. For sure the Laser class has given me a lot of happiness and I really enjoyed sailing. I am looking forward to learn about other classes, too. To learn other types of sailing, of crew work, of preparation. I am interested in that also. I think I can do a good job in other boats, too. It's a matter of time." Scheidt won the competition by 13 points, staying ahead of the field for the final four races. As for Sundby, she was ahead for the final five races in the Europe and won by an 18-point margin. "It's of course the greatest thing I've ever experienced," Sundby said. " I am really glad the last race was finally held. I was hoping that the wind came today, because I really wanted to finish crossing the line and then jump into the water. It's a fantastic feeling."
