Moscow, Russia (My Sportsbook) - Dmitiri Alenichev returned back to Russia Tuesday, agreeing to a three-year deal with Spartak Moscow. The Russian international comes back to his native land after helping Porto win the UEFA Cup title in 2003 and the Champions League trophy in 2004. The 31-year-old midfielder scored a goal in the final of each competition. "I was offered a slightly more lucrative deal with Porto," Alenichev said. "But, more importantly, I wanted to come back to Spartak. It's a dream come true." Alenichev, who played on Russia's Euro 2004 squad earlier this summer, enjoyed success in the Russian Premier League as a youngster. He started his career at Lokomotiv Moscow before heading to Spartak for four seasons. Alenichev helped his teams win four league titles and one Russian Cup before heading to Italy to play with Roma. The signing is big for Spartak, which has struggled mightily thus far this season. Spartak are currently near the bottom of the table, but hope to improve its play with the recent signings of Alenichev, Czech Republic international Martin Jiranek and Red Star Belgrade star Nemanja Vidic.
