(My Sportsbook) - Now that a nine-game losing streak is behind them the
Tampa Bay Lightning will try to win back-to-back games for the first time in well over a month, as they visit the
Ottawa Senators for tonight's encounter at Scotiabank Place.
The Lightning posted a victory in Montreal on Thursday night to earn their first win in 10 games since defeating Nashville on November 21. It was also just the club's second win under interim head coach Rick Tocchet, who improved to 2-7-4 since taking over for the fired Barry Melrose.
Martin St. Louis scored twice to help Tampa Bay stopped its slide with the 3-1 decision in Montreal. St. Louis extended his point streak to six games with his performance and has registered five goals and three assists during that stretch.
Vincent Lecavalier also lit the lamp and had an assist for the Lightning, while Lukas Krajicek recorded a pair of helpers.
Olaf Kolzig stopped 31 shots, including all 24 he faced over the final two periods, for Tampa Bay. It was the first victory for Kolzig since he won in Buffalo on October 30.
Tonight marks the end of a four-game road trip for the Lightning, who are just 4-8-3 as the visitor this year. Tampa had lost eight consecutive games on the road prior to the win over the Canadiens.
The Senators have lost three straight games and were handed a lopsided loss Friday night in Washington. Alex Ovechkin had a pair of goals to lead the Capitals to the 5-1 rout at the Verizon Center.
Jesse Winchester scored the lone goal for Ottawa, while Alex Auld surrendered all five Washington tallies on 34 shots.
Ottawa is 7-5-3 as the host this year and has won four of its last five games on home ice.
Tampa won the first of four meetings between the clubs this year, as it notched a home shootout win over the Sens on November 1. The Lightning have won two of the last three tests in the series, but have dropped six of eight and 16 of 19 in Ottawa.
