(My Sportsbook) - The New Jersey Devils will open a four-game homestand tonight, when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs for a matchup at Prudential Center.

The Devils will try to rebound from a home-and-home sweep at the hands of the rival Philadelphia Flyers. Jersey was pounded, 6-3, by the visiting Flyers in Friday's opener and then dropped an overtime decision the following day in Philadelphia.

Jeff Carter scored with 1:16 left in overtime to lift the Flyers to the 3-2 decision at the Wachovia Center.

Just prior to the game-winning goal a noxious substance was thrown on the ice, resulting in a delay of several minutes. When play resumed, Ossi Vaananen threw a shot on net from the right point that Carter tipped past Martin Brodeur as he was falling to the ice.

Brian Gionta and Zach Parise each had a goal for the Devils, who had won three straight prior to the two-game set with Philadelphia. Brodeur stopped 30 shots in the loss.

The Devils, who are 2-1-0 as the host team this year, will also welcome Atlanta, Buffalo and Tampa Bay on the residency.

Toronto had won back-to-back contests before suffering Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning. Vinny Lecavalier scored twice and Mike Smith was stellar with 37 saves to lead the Lightning to the close win at Air Canada Centre.

Mike Van Ryn and Matt Stajan scored for the Maple Leafs, while Vesa Toskala allowed three goals on 25 shots in the loss.

Toskala is 0-3 with a 3.06 goals against average and .883 save percentage in three career games against the Devils.

Toronto is 2-1-1 as the visiting team this season and won its last game on the road, defeating the Bruins in Boston last Thursday.

The Devils have won four straight and six of the last eight meetings with Toronto. The Maple Leafs have also dropped two in a row and three of their last four tests in New Jersey.
