(My Sportsbook) - The Philadelphia Flyers will try to keep moving in the right direction when they visit the Atlanta Thrashers tonight at Philips Arena.

The Flyers began the 2008-09 campaign on a six-game losing streak, but rebounded with a home-and-home sweep of the rival New Jersey Devils this weekend.

Tonight, Philly will try to continue its success against the Thrashers, a team that has lost 10 in a row to the Broad Street Bullies. The Flyers have won 13 of 14 and 15 of the last 17 encounters overall.

Atlanta hasn't defeated the Flyers since posting a 6-5 overtime victory in Philadelphia on November 18, 2005. Flyers goaltender Antero Niittymaki will likely get the start tonight, as he's 9-0 with a 1.68 goals against average in his career against Atlanta.

Philadelphia notched a 6-3 decision in New Jersey on Friday and then posted an overtime decision in the return trip on Saturday afternoon.

Jeff Carter scored with 1:16 left in OT to lift the Flyers to the 3-2 decision at the Wachovia Center.

Shortly after Simon Gagne almost ended the game and a noxious substance was thrown on the ice, resulting in a delay of several minutes, Ossi Vaananen threw a shot on net from the right point that Carter tipped past Martin Brodeur as he was falling to the ice.

Mike Knuble and Scott Hartnell each scored for the Flyers, while Martin Biron stopped 29 shots in the win.

The Flyers are 1-1-2 as the visiting team this season. After tonight's contest, Philly will return home for a two-game residency that is scheduled to begin Thursday against the New York Islanders.

Atlanta, meanwhile, is back home tonight after losing all three tests on a recent road trip.

After dropping games in Tampa and Detroit, the Thrashers made it an 0-2-1 swing with Saturday's setback in Boston. Milan Lucic scored his third goal of the game with 1:41 left in the contest to lead the Bruins to a 5-4 win over the Thrashers.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Slava Kozlov and Mathieu Schneider each had a goal and an assist for the Thrashers. Johan Hedberg made 28 stops in the loss.

Atlanta is 2-2-0 as the host team this season, but will follow tonight's tilt with a two-game road trip. The Thrashers will visit the New York Rangers on Thursday and stop in New Jersey on Saturday.
