Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Dwyane Wade scored 31 points to lead the
Miami Heat in a 103-93 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics at Key Arena.
Ricky Davis totaled 15 points for the Heat, who have won two of three, but own a 2-10 record in February. Shawn Marion dropped 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had four steals in the win.
Chris Wilcox ended with 30 points and Kevin Durant 24 for the Sonics, who have let four in a row slip away and five of six overall. Nick Collison had 12 points and 11 boards, while Damien Wilkins had 10 points and Jeff Green snagged 11 rebounds.
Seattle's deficit stayed at six before Collison and Wilkins drained back-to- back buckets to pull the Sonics within two, 84-82, just beyond the eight- minute mark of the final quarter.
The Heat responded with a 10-2 spurt that increased their lead to 10 points. Earl Barron's hook shot engaged the run and a Davis jumper from the baseline closed it out with 3:48 left in regulation.
Six Durant points got Seattle within striking distance, 96-90, following the two-minute mark. The Heat, though, answered with a Barron layup that put the game out of reach.
"It was a good win for us," Wade said. "It was probably our best defensive effort of the season. Our next step is to go out and win our next game and make this a successful road trip."
The Sonics were up 26-25 after the first frame and held a 47-44 lead at the break.
The Heat remained close, until Seattle rattled off seven unanswered points to take a 58-50 lead with a bit under 8 1/2 minutes left in the third. A Wilcox dunk sparked the surge and Durant closed it out with a jumper.
The Heat were down 10, until back-to-back threes from Marcus Banks and Davis, followed by a bucket from Wade, brought Miami within two, 72-70, with 1:49 showing.
Moments later, while Banks was driving, he was fouled as he connected on a layup. He completed the three-point play to put the Heat up 77-76 with seven ticks left, Miami took that lead into the final 12 minutes of play.
"I thought we had a heck of game until the 4th quarter," Wilcox said. "Until the last couple of minutes, then we just fell away."
