(My Sportsbook) - The
Memphis Grizzlies have already traded Pau Gasol, and may be ready to make another significant move before the trade deadline on February 21st.
On February 1st, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Gasol from the Grizzlies in exchange for center Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie, the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.
Memphis (14-39) will most likely miss the playoffs for a second straight year, and should have an excellent chance at securing one of the top picks at the lottery. The Grizzlies are starting to build a new kind of team under head coach Marc Iavaroni.
Twenty-eight-year-old Mike Miller could be the next player to go. Miller is averaging 16.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 52 games this season. The Florida product is shooting 50.8 percent from the field, including 43.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Miller has value and could bring in expiring contracts and/or draft picks and younger players. Point guard Kyle Lowry and Juan Carlos Navarro also have value and it would not be a surprise if either one of them is dealt before the deadline.
Navarro, 27, is averaging 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season, while the 21-year-old Lowry, who is playing in his second season in the league, has posted 8.5 points, 3.4 boards and 3.6 assists.
The Los Angeles Clippers play their first game since the All-Star break, as they host the Grizzlies on Wednesday at the Staples Center. It is the third meeting of the campaign between the clubs. The teams split the first two contests.
The Grizlies have lost two straight and three of their last four at the Clippers, who will host the Grizzlies on March 29th in the fourth and final meeting of the season between the clubs.
Memphis wraps up a three-game road trip tonight. On Tuesday, Earl Watson had a season-high 26 points and nine assists to lead the Seattle SuperSonics to a 108-101 victory over the Grizzlies at KeyArena.
Rudy Gay totaled 23 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have dropped two in a row and eight of their last nine contests overall. Hakim Warrick added 22 points, while Navarro netted 16 in the loss.
The Grizzlies return home to host All-Star point guard Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks on Friday at FedExForum. Memphis is 4-21 on the road this season.
