Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Justin Dentmon scored 20 points as Washington stunned fifth-ranked UCLA, 71-61, at Bank of America Arena.
Jon Brockman added 12 points and a game-high 17 boards for the Huskies (13-11, 4-7 Pac-10), who snapped a four-game skid. Ryan Appleby also scored 12 points for Washington, while Quincy Pondexter had 11.
"I told Justin (Dentmon) on Wednesday, `You seem to have gotten yourself in a pretty good rhythm.' What I meant by that is he is not looking to pinpoint passes and be the greatest player, but he's not making terrible decisions," Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said. "You've just got to have a rhythm in what you do."
Josh Shipp had 19 points for the Bruins (21-3, 9-2) , who lost for the first time in six games and are now tied with Stanford atop the Pac-10 standings. Russell Westbrook chipped in with 18 points and six boards, while freshman Kevin Love finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
UCLA's star guard, Darren Collison, went scoreless until draining a three with just over two minutes left in the game.
"Darren just had a bad game today," UCLA coach Ben Howland said. "Obviously Dentmon had a great game."
The Bruins were down by nine points with under 11 minutes to go when they finally started showing a pulse. A pair of free throws by Westbrook capped a 6-0 burst that drew UCLA within three, 51-48, with about 9 1/2 minutes left.
James Keefe then had a chance to close the gap even further but was whistled for a questionable offensive foul on the blocks and the Huskies took advantage of their good fortune.
Matt Bryan-Amaning buried a jumper and Brockman followed with a three to give Washington an eight-point cushion, 56-48, with 7:17 on the clock.
Things remained steady over the next few minutes and Dentmon's driving layup with just 2:17 remaining gave Washington a nine-point edge, 65-56.
The Bruins had one last push in them. Collison hit a three, his only bucket of the game, and Shipp followed with a layup to close the deficit to four, 65-61, with 1:41 on the clock.
Dentmon finally stopped the bleeding for Washington by making 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 1:12 left. After Collison came up empty on a three at the other end, Brockman got loose for a reverse layup to seal things.
Washington ignited the home crowd in the opening half after Venoy Overton hit a streaking Brockman for a fastbreak layup to make it 23-17 with 8:06 left.
UCLA had trouble closing the gap from there and Appleby's three, with 1:44 left, capped the scoring in the frame with the Huskies on top, 35-28.
