St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - The
Los Angeles Kings try for their third straight win tonight, as they roll into St. Louis to face the Blues at the Savvis Center.
The Kings' latest victory came Sunday night in Dallas, as Jaroslav Modry scored late in the second period to lift LA to a 2-1 win over the Stars at AmericanAirlines Center.
Mike Cammalleri also scored for Los Angeles, while Roman Cechmanek stopped 18 shots.
Modry gave the Kings a 2-1 lead with 2:58 left in the second period. He skated down the left side, went behind the net and came out in front to Marty Turco's left. Modry then waited for the goaltender to commit and fired a high shot into the net for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Before Sunday's game, the Kings acquired forward Martin Straka from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Martin Strbak and forward Sergei Anshakov. The 31-year-old Straka struggled this season for Pittsburgh, managing just four goals and eight assists in 22 games. However, the 12-year veteran has 186 career goals and is a four-time 20-goal scorer. He will make his debut with the club this evening.
The Blues, meanwhile, are winless in their last two games (0-1-1) and have just two victories in their last six contests (2-3-1).
St. Louis is coming off a 2-1 home setback to Detroit on Saturday evening. Boyd Devereaux tipped in the game-winning goal with 2:23 remaining in regulation to spur the Red Wings to victory.
With the win Detroit has 30 points and is now two ahead of St. Louis atop the Central Division standings.
Petr Cajanek scored for the Blues, while Chris Osgood made 26 saves.
Tonight's contest begins a four-game homestand for the Blues, who are an impressive 7-2-0 at the Savvis Center this season. However, Los Angeles has been good on the road this season, posting a 7-3-0-1 mark away from the City of Angels.
The Blues have taken three straight and four of the last five meetings with LA. The Kings haven't fared well in St. Louis recently, losing three straight on the road against the Blues. Los Angeles has just three wins in its last 15 games (3-9-3) in St. Louis.
St. Louis will be wearing throwback jerseys from the 1979-80 season in tonight's contest.
