Uniondale, NY (My Sportsbook) - John LeClair recorded a goal and an assist as the streaking
Philadelphia Flyers pounded the
New York Islanders, 5-1, at the Nassau Coliseum.
Mark Recchi, Donald Brashear, Simon Gagne and Justin Williams also scored for the Flyers, who extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games (10-0-2).
The stretch went through the entire month of November, giving Philadelphia its first undefeated month with at least five games since they went 11-0-2 in December of 1996.
"We feel very, very confident, there's no question," Flyers forward Jeremy Roenick said. "We don't get all nervous when a goal is scored against us. We get composed and come right back."
Jeff Hackett turned aside 16-of-17 shots in the victory.
Janne Niinimaa scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who dropped their fifth straight game.
Rick DiPietro stopped 13-of-18 shots in the loss, but was replaced by Garth Snow after 40 minutes. Snow stopped all seven shots he faced.
The Flyers trailed 1-0 after the first period, but scored five times in the second to take control of the game.
LeClair evened the score at 3:47 of the second when skated just inside the zone on the right wing and blasted a slap shot past DiPietro.
Recchi scored just under two minutes later on the power play to give Philadelphia a 2-1 edge. Roenick skated behind the net and backhanded a pass to Recchi, who was at the right post for the tap-in.
The Flyers pushed their lead to 3-1 with 5:52 left on Brashear's second goal of the season. Brashear took a pass in the high slot and flicked a wrister over the goaltender's glove hand.
Gagne's power-play goal made it 4-1 with 3:09 left. Kim Johnsson ripped a one- timer from the left circle and Gagne was in front to dump in the rebound.
Williams capped the assault with a nice wrister from the left circle in the final minute of the second period.
