Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Seattle SuperSonics rookie forward Nick Collison has an injured left shoulder. An MRI revealed that Collison has a partial dislocation of the shoulder joint, and he will undergo a second examination before he and the club decide how to best treat the injury. Possible options include rest, rehabilitation or surgery. If surgery is chosen, then Collison could be sidelined for the entire season. The 22-year-old Collison is expected to compete for a starting spot in the Seattle lineup. Collison, who was the 12th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, helped lead the Kansas Jayhawks to the NCAA championship game against Syracuse last season. In Collison's four years at Kansas, he averaged 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds. The 6-9 forward also guided the Jayhawks to the Final Four in the 2001-02 season, when they lost to the Maryland Terrapins. Collison was a member of the United States Olympic qualifying team that earned a 2004 Olympic berth in Puerto Rico this past summer.
