Vancouver, British Columbia (My Sportsbook) - The Vancouver Canucks agreed to terms Thursday with veteran defenseman Jiri Slegr. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. The 32-year-old Slegr appeared in 10 games last season with HC Litvinov Chemopetrol of the Czech Elite league and also played in six games with Omsk Avangard of the Russian League. He had a combined three goals and five assists. The nine-year NHL veteran has spent time with Vancouver, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Detroit. For his career, he has 45 goals and 162 assists in 538 games. Slegr, who was drafted in the second round (23rd overall) by Vancouver in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, won a gold medal for the Czech Republic at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He also won the Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2002.
