East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - New Jersey Devils defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky will not play in the NHL next season, instead deciding to return to Russia. Tverdovsky played last season for the Stanley Cup champions after he was traded from Anaheim. He played in 50 games for the Devils, finishing with five goals and eight assists. Tverdovsky, 27, had spent the previous three seasons with Anaheim, and was the Ducks' leading scorer among defensemen with six goals and 32 points during the 2001-02 campaign. He had 74 goals and 216 assists in nine NHL seasons, also spending three seasons with the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise. He began his career with Anaheim after the Ducks selected him second overall in the 1994 Entry Draft.
