Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Wizards are interested in signing veteran forward Charles Oakley to a one-year contract, according to a published report. The Washington Post reported on Friday that Oakley, who is a free agent, worked out with the team on Thursday and then met with team officials about signing a contract. Oakley, 38, has played 17 seasons in the NBA. He has taken the court for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. Over his career, Oakley has averaged 10.0 points and 9.8 rebounds in 1,233 games. If Oakley signs with Washington he would be reunited with former Bulls teammate Michael Jordan, who announced Thursday that he would be returning to the club next season, and former Knicks center Patrick Ewing, who was hired by Washington to be an assistant coach.
