East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - The
New Jersey Nets hope to have Jason Kidd back in the lineup on Monday when they welcome the Seattle SuperSonics to Continental Airlines Arena.
Kidd has missed the last two games with a strained groin, which he suffered in last Wednesday's game against Washington. Without Kidd, the Nets posted a 89-72 victory over New Orleans on Friday before suffering a 106-84 loss to Detroit on Saturday.
Kenyon Martin poured in 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, both game-highs, to lead the Nets Saturday. However, New Jersey had its four-game winning streak snapped.
Brian Scalabrine chipped in 16 points and Kerry Kittles added 15 for New Jersey, which was also without the services of forward Richard Jefferson for the second straight game due to a stomach virus.
The Nets committed only eight turnovers in the contest, but shot 35 percent from the floor.
New Jersey has won three straight at home and is 21-2 in its building this season. The Nets are 11-8 against the Western Conference.
The Sonics won for the third time in four games on Saturday by topping the Chicago Bulls, 90-77.
Rashard Lewis scored 23 points to lead Seattle. Gary Payton had 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Desmond Mason also scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Sonics.
Seattle, which won despite shooting 35 percent from the floor, outscored Chicago 25-12 in the third quarter and led by as much as 19 in the final frame.
The Sonics, who begin a three-game road trip on Monday, are 11-13 on the road this season. Seattle is 9-10 against the Eastern Conference.
These teams met back on December 1 in Seattle, with the Sonics pulling out a 96-95 victory on a three-pointer by Brent Barry.
Seattle has captured the last two meetings overall and five of the past seven. However, the Sonics have dropped two straight in New Jersey.
