(My Sportsbook) - The Delta Center has traditionally been a house of horrors for the
Los Angeles Clippers, but they were able to perform an exorcism on Wednesday night.
Los Angeles has lost nine of its last 13 games but is coming off a huge 96-89 road win over the Utah Jazz. It was the Clippers' first win at Utah since 1989. The Clippers had lost their previous 26 games in Utah since defeating the Jazz at the old Salt Palace on April 18, 1989. The Clippers had never won at the Delta Center and had lost 15 in a row overall to the Jazz.
"Everybody knows the trouble we've had winning in this building, so it's a great win for us against a real, real quality team," Clippers coach Alvin Gentry said.
Elton Brand finished with 24 points and 10 boards in the victory. Andre Miller finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Corey Maggette added 13 points and nine boards to the win.
"We're playing real well. Everybody's contributing," said Miller. "If we can do that and play [like tonight] every day, it'd be a different game."
The Clippers are now 7-11 on the road and have a 10-19 mark within the Western Conference.
Los Angeles can't celebrate the win for too long, since they face a tough Minnesota Timberwolves team on Friday night. The Clippers will be without Andre Miller, who will miss the game for personal reasons.
Minnesota has won five of its last six games, most recently a 96-91 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics. Kevin Garnett finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Timberwolves. Rado Nesterovic scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Troy Hudson, Joe Smith and Wally Szczerbiak scored 16 points apiece.
The win gave the Wolves their first three-game winning streak of the season.
"I didn't see what the big fuss was about," Garnett said. "Three in a row. It'd be nice if we can put another three on top of this one.
"I've been a part of bigger streaks. But it's a great start. Let's try to extend it a little bit, keep the focus game to game."
The Wolves are 15-5 at home and have a 16-8 record within the Western Conference.
The two teams have split a pair of meetings so far this season, both at Staples Center. Los Angeles has lost four of its last six road games overall and nine of its last 12 at Minnesota. Minnesota has won five straight and eight of its last nine at Target Center.
The Clippers have a slim 28-26 edge in the all-time series.
