Salt Lake City, UT (My Sportsbook) - The Seattle SuperSonics try to snap a five-game slide when they travel to Utah to take on the Jazz at Delta Center.
Seattle has lost eight of its last 10 games overall and three of its last four road games. The Sonics are coming off an 87-79 home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Gary Payton scored 21 points and dished out seven assists in the losing effort.
The Sonics matched a franchise record for fewest points in a quarter, scoring only eight on 3-of-14 shooting in the fourth.
"It was bad tonight," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said. "Eight points in the fourth. When you've had the game in control, it's just a matter of executing your offense, playing some defense and getting some stops. And we didn't do that again."
Seattle has a 10-10 mark on the road and is 8-11 within the Western Conference.
Utah has won seven of its last nine games, most recently a 92-81 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Matt Harpring continued his recent solid play with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Karl Malone added 16 points and 10 rebounds to the victory.
"Sometimes if you can keep your composure at what you are doing, the other team will hopefully make a mistake in your favor," said Utah coach Jerry Sloan.
The Jazz overcame 20 turnovers that led to 24 Denver points. Utah got to the foul line 37 times and converted 29 attempts.
"That's kind of what we hang our hat on, being able to execute or get to the foul line," John Stockton said.
Utah has a 12-4 mark at Delta Center and is 13-6 within the Western Conference.
Seattle captured the first meeting of the season 91-77 at KeyArena on November 3. The Sonics have won two straight on the heels of an eight-game series slide. Utah has won four straight home games, but trails its overall series with Seattle 69-53.
