New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The New York Rangers acquired left wing Gordie Dwyer from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for left wing Boyd Kane. Dwyer recorded four assists and 291 penalty minutes in 78 games with the Lightning during the past three seasons. Tampa Bay acquired him from Montreal in exchange for defenseman Mike McBain on November 26, 1999. The 24-year-old Kane played in 78 games with Hartford of the American Hockey League last season, notching 17 goals, 22 assists and 193 penalty minutes. "Boyd Kane is an aggressive, hard-nosed, in-your-face kind of hockey player, and in our opinion his style of play is cut from the same mold as a player like Sheldon Keefe," Lightning general manager Jay Feaster said. "At the same time, as evidenced by his 17 goals in the minors last year, he has some offensive upside."
